Using SOYSAND
SOYSAND can be used exactly like traditional Clay Litters.
For new cats and kittens:
BEFORE BRINGING YOUR NEW CAT OR KITTEN HOME, first fill your litter box with SOYSAND to a depth of 2"-3", and place it in the location you have designated for the litter box.
When you bring your Cat or Kitten home for the first time, place them directly into the litter box before letting them explore their new surroundings. This helps establish the place within the house that feels like "nature" (AKA the place where they can do their business).
For existing cats or kittens:
Our testing has shown that cats and kittens have no problem transitioning to SOYSAND as it is comfortable, and feels natural under their paws. For best results, completely empty, and wash your existing Litter box before adding 2"-3" of fresh SOYSAND.
If your Cat or Kitten is having a hard time transitioning to SOYSAND:
Cat's can be particular, and you may need to slowly transition your cat or Kitten from their existing litter, to SOYSAND. If this is the case, we recommending removing 1/3 of the existing litter, and replacing it with SOYSAND, then going forward, using SOYSAND to top off as needed. The next time you completely clean our your litter box, fill it with 1/3 of the old litter, and 2/3 of SOYSAND, and continue to top off with SOYSAND as needed. The next time you clean your litter box. Thoroughly wash and dry the litter box, and then fill it with SOYSAND only, and your cat or kitten should be familiar enough with SOYSAND to fully transition.

How much do I need?
The answer to this question depends on how many cats you have, how many litter boxes you use, the bathroom habits of your cats, and how frequently you clean the litter box.
However for context, one 6lb bag is enough to fully fill a standard "large" litter box, or Litter Robot.
Depending on the frequency of cleaning, and top off's having another 6lb bag on hand is ideal.
Based on a single cat home with a large litter box, two 6lb bags should last 6-8 weeks without fully dumping and washing the litter box.
Sustainability and Eco-Friendly Information
SOYSAND is made from the by-product created when manufacturing food grade Tofu.
This process was originally patented by a Japanese Inventor in 1995, and has since been improved upon for the past 20 years!
Since SOYSAND is made from the same By-product, it is considered sustainable or up-cycled, as its main ingredients aren't harvested from other natural resources.
Since SOYSAND is made of Soy and other natural ingredients, it is fully bio-degradable and will quickly break down into organic matter.
Ingredients
SOYSAND is vegan-friendly, and completely free of any animal products.
SOYSAND is Gluten-Free
SOYSAND is made from:
- Soy Pea Fiber (Tofu by-product)
- Corn Starch
- Guar Gum
- Pre-gelatinized* Starch (not gelatin)
- Antioxidants
*Pre-gelatinized Starch is different and unrelated to gelatin. It is a food additive that serves as a thickener. The starch can come from a variety of sources, including corn, waxy corn, potato, tapioca, or wheat.
Health and Safety
Ingestion:
SOYSAND ingredients are completely safe and harmless if accidentally ingested.
However, if your cat or kitten appears to be consistently eating SOYSAND, please remove the litter and contact your veterinarian, as there may be other underlying health issues known to cause cats to eat their litter (regardless of the type).
Respiratory Health:
SOYSAND produces 99.9% less dust than traditional clay litters, and is safe for both humans and cats.
TOXOPLASMOSIS:
A parasite known as "TOXOPLASMA GONDII" can be found in some cat feces. This parasite can become airborne in the dust particles and lead to TOXOPLASMOSIS if inhaled. While SOYSAND reduces the risk of airborne transmission by 99.9% compared to traditional clay litters, pregnant women and immune suppressed individuals should still avoid cleaning the litter box. And users should always follow proper hygiene and thoroughly wash their hands after handling dirty litter.
Shelf Life
SOYSAND has a shelf life of 24 months (2 years) from date of manufacture.
The date of manufacture is printed on the back of every bag of SOYSAND
Litter Box Compatibility
SOYSAND can be used effectively in any litter box (manual or self-cleaning) that is designed to work with a clumping type litter.
Litter boxes made to be used with silica crystals, or pee pads may not be compatible with SOYSAND. Please check your Litter box's manual and recommended litter types before purchasing SOYSAND.
If you are unsure if SOYSAND is compatible with your Litter box, please send us and email, and we can work with you to determine compatibility.
Flushing SOYSAND
SOYSAND is highly water soluble, so it fully breaks down in a matter of minutes. Because of this, SOYSAND will not build up in your plumbing pipes, or cause issues when flushed.
HOWEVER, please check your local laws and regulations regarding pet waste. Some areas prohibit flushing non-human waste down the toilet as their treatment facilities are not able to filter out some parasites or bacteria known to be found in pet waste.
Using Discount Codes
Discount Codes for New Customers
Some discount codes will specify that they are only valid for new customers. A new customer is defined as a first time buyer as well as first time shipping address. Although a customer may make a new account, their payment information, as well as shipping address must also be new to qualify as a new customer and receive the discount.
Combining Discounts
In some cases, you will have a code or codes that can be applied to a subscription purchase. These codes will either be a percentage off, and/or free shipping. Since codes cannot be combined with other discounts or offers, unless otherwise specified, similar discounts will default to the highest discount offer.
For example:
Subscriptions already have a 15% discount, but no discount on shipping. If Parker wants to use a 10% discount code and a free shipping code with his subscription purchase, he will only be able to use the Free shipping code, as the pre-existing 15% discount is higher than the 10% discount associated with the code. However, if Parker had a 20% discount code, his subscription cost would be adjusted to reflect the 20% discount as it is higher than the 15% subscription discount.
Subscription Program
Are there any subscription terms or fees?
Nope! Subscribers are not tied down to minimum orders or burdened with any additional fees. You can choose to pause or cancel at anytime, for any reason, without any fees or penalties.
How does it work?
Subscriptions serve as a hassle-free way to ensure your cat always has enough litter to keep their box clean and fresh.
Participating in a subscription plan means that you will automatically be shipped your selected litter type and amount, at a set frequency interval of your choosing. You will be automatically charged for your order (at a discounted rate) at the time of shipment.
Depending on your cat's needs, as well as your preference and cleaning habits, you can select the following options:
Amount:
- 12 lbs
- 19.4 lbs
- 36 lbs
Frequency:
- Once a month
- Every other month
- Every 3 months
Subscription Examples
Example 1:
Larry and Diana have 2 cats and prefer to keep their house smelling fresh, so they clean their litter box daily, and fully wash it once a week. Because of the frequency of cleaning, they go through a lot of litter. For their subscription plan, they have chosen to have 6x6lb bags (36lbs) sent to their house every month. This allows them to use a brand new bag every week when they clean out, and have 2 extra bags for daily top-offs during the month.
Example 2:
Fred and Jen just welcomed a new kitten into their home. They aren't sure what to expect yet, but for their subscription plan, they have chosen to have 2x6lbs bags (12 lbs) sent to their house every other month. This allows them to use a single bag every month for fill and top-off.
Example 3:
Mike and his girlfriend care for 4 foster cats. They have 3 litter boxes in their house and clean them every few days, with full dump and wash once a month. For their subscription, they have chosen to do one 19.4 lbs bag once a month. This allows them to have enough litter to completely fill all 3 boxes, with some remaining for top-offs during the month.
How do I join?
Joining the subscription plan is as easy as checking out. On the shop page, be sure to select your desired frequency option and proceed through checkout.
By selecting a frequency option, our system will mark the date of purchase and your order information, then automatically send you the same order at your selected frequency. The credit card on file will be used and a receipt will be sent to the email address we have on file for your account.
How can I cancel/pause/resume my subscription?
Pausing your subscription means that you will not be automatically shipped or billed for your selected products until you resume your subscription.
The difference between pausing and cancelling, is the ability to save your subscription settings.
You can pause your subscription at any time, and for any reason.
You can do this by navigating to your account page, and logging in.
After logging in, you will see a blue 'Manage Subscription' button.
Click this button to be taken to your subscription settings page, where you can follow prompts to pause or resume your subscription service.

How do I change my subscription details?
You can change your subscription details at any time, and for any reason.
You can do this by navigating to your account page, and logging in.
After logging in, you will see a blue 'Manage Subscription' button.
Click this button to be taken to your subscription settings page, where you can modify your subscription to better fit your needs.
Please note, any discounts applied to your existing subscription will be voided when changing plans.
Subscription Discounts
The standard discount for subscriptions is 15%.
Throughout the year, we may offer customers special opportunities to increase their subscription discount in the following ways:
"Sitewide Discount Codes"
One time use codes that will be applied to you next subscription order only. The following subscription orders will revert back to the previous subscription discount rate. (see below for examples)
"Subscription Loyalty Codes"
Ongoing subscription discounts that can be applied to a new or existing subscription program to increase the ongoing discount up to 25% for as long as the subscription is active. The maximum subscription discount possible is 25%, and if you are already subscribed with this rate, additional discounts will not be able to be applied. (see below for examples)
Subscription Loyalty Discount Validity:
Subscription discounts higher than the standard 15% are only valid while the current subscription is active. If a subscriber chooses to pause or cancel their subscription, the additional loyalty discount will be lost, and resuming or reactivating a subscription will only be eligible for the standard 15% discount, unless a new Loyalty discount code is used.(see below for examples)
Standard Subscription Discount Example:
Nagendra decides to enroll in the subscription service. He selects a 2-pack to be delivered every month. During initial checkout, a 15% discount is automatically applied to his first order, making his total $42.50 (instead of $49.99). Every month, he is charged $42.50, while his subscription is active.
Sitewide Discount Example:
Eric has been a subscriber for 6 months, and pays $42.50 for his monthly 2-pack subscription. During a holiday promotion, he received a 10% Sitewide Discount code, and applies it to his subscription. His next months order reflects the discount and he is automatically charged $38.24. The following months, his rate returns to the original subscription rate of $42.50 per order.
Subscription Loyalty Discount Example:
Heather is an existing subscriber and has come across an "Additional Subscription Discount Code" for 5%. She redeems the code and her subscription discount changes from a 15% discount every month, to 20% discount every month. 6-months later, she decides to pause her subscription, which forfeits her additional 5% subscription discount. When she goes to reactivate her subscription, she doesn't have a new coupon code, so she receives the standard 15% subscription discount. If she receives another "Subscription Loyalty Discount Code" in the future, she would be able to apply it, and it would remain valid on every subscription order until the subscription is paused or cancelled.
Other Frequently Asked Questions
30 Day Risk Free Guarantee
Valid for 1st time customers on their first order only within 30 days of delivery date.
**For orders placed after 12/1/24, the 30-day risk free guarantee is only valid on our Trial Pack**
If for any reason you are not completely satisfied with SOYSAND Tofu Cat Litter, you may request a full refund for your order.
For orders prior to 12/1/24, but within the 30 day claim window, you may be asked to ship back all other unopened bags from your order. We will provide the shipping label, but your refund will not be processed until the unopened bags are received and verified.
Example:
Scott ordered the 2-bag scented package for $34.99. Upon receipt, he opened 1 bag and realized he didn't care for the scent. After contacting Petkinns about the 30-Day Risk Free Guarantee, he was provided a shipping label, and sent back the 1 unopened bag. After his return was processed, and verified, he was refunded the full amount of his order.

Return Policy
Due to the nature of this product, we are unable to accept returns, or offer refunds for any opened bags.
That said, any unopened bags ordered online, can be considered for return and refund within 30 days of confirmed delivery. But must be shipped back to us in California at the buyers shipping expense.
Eligible returns must be:
Unused and unaltered
In the original packaging
Return request email must be sent within 30 days of confirmed delivery.
Eligible returns should be shipped back within 7 days of the return request confirmation email from Petkinns.
Note: Customer is responsible for any shipping costs associated with the return of unopened bags. We will provide you with a shipping label and deduct the amount from your refund. Shipping costs will be disclosed prior to return confirmation.
We are not responsible for any lost, damaged, or opened packages upon arrival and receipt at our warehouse.
If packages are received opened or unsellable, it will void the eligibility of the return claim and no refund will be granted.
Refunds will be given on a prorated scale for every unopened bag received, based on the amount paid for each specific order, less the cost of shipping.
All refunds will be processed back to the original method of payment once your return has been received and approved in the amount agreed on prior to processing.
Please allow 5-7 days from the date your refund is scheduled for processing.

Shipping within the 48 Contiguous States:
Every order within the 48 Contiguous States will ship via USPS, UPS, or Fedex for a flat $5 shipping fee added at check out. Most orders should be received within 2-5 days.
SOYSAND is currently only available to be shipped within the United States and it's territories
Shipping Outside of the 48 Contiguous States
Shipping to Hawaii/Alaska/Other Outlying Territories:
Due to increased shipping costs to reach US territories outside of the 48 Contiguous States, a shipping surcharge will be added to your order. The surcharge is based on the order amount. For orders subtotals $35 and under, shipping is $10. For every additional $35 value in order amount, there will be an additional $5 increase for shipping.
Example:
- Cart subtotal: $34.99 = $10 shipping
- Cart subtotal: $44.99 = $15 shipping
- Cart subtotal: $79.99 = $20 shipping
All orders will be processed immediately and should arrive within 5-8 business days
We hope to be able to improve shipping costs to these areas as we continue to grow and find other ways to save on costs.

Is SOYSAND available outside of the US?
As a new company, we are currently limited to shipping within the US only. We hope that by 2025, we will be able to expand our offering internationally. Check back for updates and timelines.
