Sustainable & Biodegradable
Sustainable & Biodegradable
SOYSAND is sustainable because its leading ingredient is the by-product that comes from producing food-grade tofu. It is soy-based, with no harsh chemicals or harmful additives making it eco-friendly and biodegradable.
Compatible with Self-Cleaning Litter Boxes
Compatible with Self-Cleaning Litter Boxes
Other Tofu litters are pellet shaped, and do not sift well through the grates, or rakes of Self-cleaning Litter Boxes. SOYSAND’s unique shape is similar to traditional clay litters, which are all compatible with Self-cleaning Litter Boxes. If the litter box works with clumping litters, it will work with SOYSAND.
99.9% Dust-free
99.9% Dust-free
During production SOYSAND is filtered through a 13-lane dust removal system prior to packaging. Additionally, the increased density of SOYSAND granules means there is less dust created from granules rubbing against each other as it is harder to break than clay, or other eco-friendly litters. Compared to Clay, SOYSAND produces 99.9% less dust.
NOTE: While the low-dust properties of SOYSAND can help prevent respiratory issues in humans and pets, the parasite “Toxoplasma Gondii” can still be found in cat feces, and should therefore be avoided overall by pregnant women as well as immune-suppressed individuals. Please always take proper sanitary precautions when handling dirty litter and used litter boxes.
Natural Odor Control
Natural Odor Control
Soy is naturally acidic and works to neutralize the ammonia in urine eliminating the typical "cat box" smell associated with most litters. SOYSAND will keep your litter box fresher for longer, regardless of the scent you choose. Scented SOYSAND has a natural aroma, often compared to "baked goods", "coconut sun screen" or even "milk tea". Unscented SOYSAND is odorless but is still maintains its ability to break down odors.
Low Tracking
Low Tracking
SOYSAND granules measure 2mm-6mm, so they are larger than traditional clay litters. The larger size helps prevent it from getting caught on fur, or between toes, keeping the litter in place, and not tracked throughout the house.
Easy Scoop
Easy Scoop
Scooping into SOYSAND is effortless, and like digging in sand. SOYSAND’s grain size falls easily through the holes in your scoop for a quick separation and thorough sifting. This prevents loose litter from being tossed, increasing the longevity of your bag, and keeps litter fresher for longer.
Forms Tight Clumps
Forms Tight Clumps
SOYSAND granules quickly absorb liquids and cling together to create extremely tight clumps. Clumps will stay together when sifted, which means no more loose pieces falling into the “clean” litter. This also means that less litter is used to absorb the same amount of liquid, increasing the longevity of your bag, and requiring fewer top-offs, or refills.
Comfortable for Cats of All Ages
Comfortable for Cats of All Ages
SOYSAND is harder than other tofu litters, but crushed so that it feels like sand. Testing has shown that even picky cats easily take to the feel of the litter, and quickly adapt without having to transition. SOYSAND is also safe and easy to use for kittens, as well as older cats.
Safe for Plumbing
Safe for Plumbing
SOYSAND is highly absorbent and water soluble. This means that in a litter box, it will quickly absorb foreign liquids (when there is more litter than liquid). But when small clumps are put into a large amount of water, like a bucket, or toilet bowl (where there is more liquid than litter), it quickly breaks down into a soft sludge, preventing it from building up, and wont cause clogs in your pipes.
NOTE: please check your local laws and regulations regarding pet waste and dispose of accordingly.

Results will vary by household. The following is meant as a reference for first time buyers.

What Makes SOYSAND a BETTER Tofu Litter??

-
Easier to Scoop
Pellet shaped litters lock against each other, preventing scoops from digging in, and making it hard to sift through. SOYSAND is easy to scoop and quickly sifts through, making cleaning litter boxes, quicker, and honestly, more enjoyable.
This is also why SOYSAND can be used in any Self-Cleaning Litter Box that use clumping litters
-
More Comfortable for Cats
Pellets can feel like grass or pine needles, which cats instinctively know they cannot dig into, which discourages them from using the litter. SOYSAND's crushed granules feel like sand, so cats know they can dig it, which encourages them to use it as a litter.
-
Forms Tight Clumps
SOYSAND granules quickly absorb liquid and clump tightly within seconds. Clumps stay together when sifted, or even dropped, keeping dirty litter out of the box!
Well, it stinks. Terrible at preventing odor. The liter sticks to my cats paws and fur so it’s everywhere. Very disappointing.
So far so good - got since this litter appears to be compatible with our Litter Robot. Have only been using for a week so far.
My new favorite. It's on the more expensive side, but the scent and the smell control is really amazing.
SOYSAND is the first tofu litter we’ve tried from clumping clay litter. While tofu litter seems to be much better overall than clumping clay litter, there were a few things that I loved and didn’t love so much.
What I loved about it:
- no dust
- worked well with our automatic litter robot
- cats transitioned easily from clumping clay litter
- 12 lbs lasted us about 2.5-3 weeks with 4 cats in the litter robot
- less tracking around the house
What I didn’t love:
- little to no odor control. Although there was no ammonia smell, the scent of the tofu litter mixed with the cat urine produced a really unpleasant smell. Almost like a heavily wet or soiled hamster . This smell was overpowering and pretty much took over our laundry room where the litter robot is placed.
- Although tracking was limited to the vicinity of the litter robot, there was still quite a bit of tracking
- cats did not cover their poop
- takes a while to clump (over 15 minutes) and remains kind of gooey in the litter robot, less than ideal for cycling because it sticks to the litter robot as it cycles and less than ideal when there are multiple users
Perhaps my expectations for tofu litter were a little high, but I’ll probably try a few more brands to see if their odor control, clumping, and tracking are any better.
Pros:
1. Unscented. The nature smell of the litter doesn’t bother at all
2. Light weight
3. Clumps very hard
Cons
1. Gets completely stuck at the base of PetSnowy. even when it’s filled to max line.
2. Bought because I was hoping hard clumps won’t leave drag smears on the surface when cylinder is rotating.
3. The time to harden is long enough that it gets in paws of cats and I see litter smears outside of litter box.
